Do you feel engaged at work? Are you focused and motivated? Or are you simply doing the bare minimum and waiting for each day to end?
According to the State of the Global Workplace 2023 Report, there is a rise in quiet quitting in the workplace.
What does quiet quitting look like?
- Emotional disengagement from work/workplace.
- Reduced productivity
- Lack of initiative
- Limited communication
Does this sound like you? Lack of engagement at work has been a common coaching topic with my clients recently. Some of the reasons for this include: lack of recognition, limited growth opportunities, burnout, stress, ineffective leadership, and lack of company transparency.
Only 15% of employees in the US and 12% in Canada reported feeling fully engaged and satisfied with their jobs. This is a crisis that needs to be addressed.
When you are unhappy at work, there is a ripple effect to all areas of your life. Stress at work negatively impacts your leadership, your parenting, and your love relationship.
What should your company be doing to keep you engaged?
- Invest in employee engagement programs that focus on recognizing and rewarding your efforts and contributions.
- Increase feedback and communication between you and your manager.
- Prioritize your well-being by offering resources and programs to help you manage stress and prevent burnout, such as coaching.
- Provide opportunities for your growth and career advancement.
Employee engagement is also crucial to organizational success. With high employee engagement, organizations can increase their profitability by 21% and decrease their absenteeism by 41%.
Does your company offer flexible work options? Organizations with remote and hybrid work models have seen positive effects on employee engagement, retention, and overall performance. Companies who adopt more flexible work arrangements give their employees a greater work-life balance. Flexible work has become increasingly prevalent in both the US and Canada. This shift has led to enhanced productivity, retention, and job satisfaction.
I’ve worked from home in some capacity since the birth of my first child ten years ago. Nothing suits this introverted Confidence Coach more as I balance my work with the demands and the joys of single motherhood.
Are you getting the support, recognition, and flexibility you need to be happy and productive at work? If not, what other opportunities are out there? Life is too short to waste your unique gifts by staying at a job that is unfulfilling and harmful to your well-being.
