By literally running after it! By moving your body. By being physically active.

Coaching isn’t about giving advice. It is about asking powerful questions to tap into the internal wisdom of the client. When I ask my clients what they can do to become more confident, the single most common answer I get is to hit the gym more often.

Do you workout regularly?

Making fitness a part of your daily life will significantly boost your confidence. It improves your mood, mental health and sleep and gives you more energy. Your clothes fit better. When you feel comfortable in your own skin, you will have the confidence to go after what makes you happy.

“But I’m so busy juggling my family life with my career. I just can’t find the time to work out”, you might say. Stop right there. Nothing is more important than your health. By prioritizing you and working out consistently, you will show up better for your loved ones and for your career. All of us can spare a few minutes each day to move our bodies. Take a walk, do yoga, or go for a swim. By doing so, you set a powerful example to your family to put health first.

Since my early twenties, I have been fitness obsessed. Spin class, aerobics, boot camp, barre, TRX, jogging, rollerblading, skiing, hiking and yoga. I know I’m a better mom and a better coach when I’ve filled my bucket first by working out. But my favorite workout is hiking Grouse Mountain’s “Grouse Grind” – aka Mother Nature’s Stairmaster. When I start my day by climbing a mountain, I can handle anything my day brings.

“I know fitness is good for me, but I have no idea how to even start”, you could say. The hardest part is getting started. Like James Clear says in his book, “Atomic Habits”, start really small to help you stay motivated to keep going. For example, start out by just wearing your exercise clothes for 30 minutes each day without working out. When you are ready, you can work up to moving your body for just 2 minutes each day and then gradually increase the time. Before you know it, you will have formed a new fitness habit, and you will feel off if you miss a workout.

Your very life depends on you being physically active. The human body was designed to move. Get off the couch and get your sweat on for yourself, your family, and your community.

I would love to hear about your favorite way to stay fit! Send me an email to let me know.
