What are you longing for? What changes do you want to make in your life? What big personal or professional project do you want to finish in 2024?
As I started my ascent up the 2,830 stairs of the Grouse Grind hike up the side of Grouse Mountain this morning, I focused on one stair at a time without looking at how much further I had to go. I kept my head down listening to my pounding EDM, feeling my heart pumping, and my deep breaths entering and leaving my body.
When I took that last dusty step, reached the peak, and saw the city and ocean spread out before me like a painting, I felt a sense of accomplishment and elation 😍
Do accomplishments make you happy? Does crossing items off your to-do list bring you joy?
I love getting sh*t done. I do my best to take action instead of overthinking. But sometimes I struggle with motivation, especially when what I want is hard, or outside my comfort zone.
❓ What do you want to make happen in your life in the next six months? What do you want to be different in your friendships, relationships, love, time, finances, job, purpose, spirituality, career, school, health, or wellness?
I have a very specific goal I want to achieve in my coaching business in 2024, but I recently found myself struggling to even get started. It felt like what I wanted was an impossible mountain to climb with no end in sight. I kept procrastinating and avoided doing the work to achieve my goal.
💡 So I took Mel Robbin’s free mini-course “Make it Happen”. I learned about the knowledge-action gap. The gap between what you want and actually going after it. What’s getting in your way of your big dream? Fear, excuses, overthinking?
Are you waiting to feel ready? That day may never come. Take action BEFORE you feel ready.
🕰️ But “I don’t have the time”, you might say. What about just 15 minutes per day? Everyone can spare 15 minutes per day. Imagine how far along you would be in your project if you devoted 15 minutes per day to it for the next six months.
The hardest part is getting started, but it all comes down to your mindset. It’s often easier to take action than stressing about your unrealized goals. Start small and focus on one step at a time like I did on my hike up that mountain. Each step forward is progress and brings you closer to your goal.
How can you stay accountable? Keep track on a physical calendar 🗓️ Check off each day you spend 15 minutes on your goal. Write down the specific thing you worked on each day. And celebrate your progress.
I’ve been doing this for two weeks, and it feels amazing to make progress on something important to me.
⚠️ You don’t want to live a life of regret. Your dreams matter. You owe it to yourself to carve out just 15 minutes per day to make something amazing happen.
