What keeps you accountable to your goals? How do you stay on track? What if I checked in on you every few days?

Traditional coaching is a one-hour session every two weeks. It’s a journey of transformation and personal growth where you get to dive into topics like confidence, setting boundaries, work challenges, relationship issues, core values, life purpose, and more.

✅ A big part of coaching is accountability. During each session, my clients commit to one or more action steps. My original approach was to check in to see how they did with their “homework” at the next session.

But then I learned about the power of MICROCOACHING.

Microcoaching is smaller and more frequent questions, guidance, and assistance. For example, a five-minute chat every few days. It’s the exchange of voice notes or text-based questions and prompts between you and your coach. It’s adaptive to modern ways of communicating and integrates seamlessly into your daily routines.

Frequent doses of guidance might help keep you on track better than an in-depth discussion every two weeks. It ensures that personal growth becomes a continuous, integrated process, rather than a periodic event.

❤️ My approach combines traditional one-hour sessions with my “coach-in-your-back-pocket” microcoaching system.

At the first session with you, I ask how you would like to be held accountable. We establish cadence (how many days per week) and method (email, text, or Whatsapp).

Microcoaching gives you more frequent catch-ups and a real-time method of keeping in touch. Challenges can be assessed and dissected, and a plan of action made without waiting for our next scheduled coaching session. You get access to more frequent doses of motivation.

A female Co-Founder/VP Design said, “Reading Anna’s check-in emails is one of the highlights of my morning before I start work. They help me stay motivated to achieve the goals I’ve set for myself. Her thoughtful questions also provide an opportunity for me to reflect on various themes that are important in my life.”

According to an IT consultant in Vancouver: “Anna has been a great support during my healing journey. She has the exact words that make me feel heard and valuable. Moreover, her insightful questions help me to re-evaluate my thoughts and unblock power within me.”

What are some other ways to stay accountable to your big goals and dreams?

✅ Have you tried peer accountability? Humans are social creatures and benefit hugely from the buddy system. To be more consistent in my meditation practice, I did daily check-ins with another coach. I also have monthly accountability meetings with a relationship coach to keep me on track with my business goals.

Find a gym or ski buddy. Start a gratitude practice with your bestie where you text the top three things you are grateful for each day. Making a commitment to a friend or colleague can be way more motivating than going it alone.

✅ What about an accountability community? Who are the like-minded people in your life you can create an accountability group with? I co-founded a Lean in Circle supporting mothers in leadership positions in Vancouver. Every month, each member commits to an action to take before our next meeting.

Find your people, set up ongoing meetings where you publicly state your goals, and report back on your progress at the next meeting.
